Orpheus and Eurydice Book Illustrations

This project is for my Visual Narratives class. For this assignment, we had to pick a well-known story and Illustrate a cover, spread, and single page. I had chosen the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, but I changed a couple of elements to make it palatable to a wider audience.

The yellow in the cover is meant to be replaced with gold foil. I envisioned this being a hardcover book.
This spread occurs in the beginning of the story, leading up to the meeting of the two main characters.
This page happens in the middle of the story. Orpheus and Eurydice fall in love after a bit of a slow burn. I had Orpheus keep his eyes open to signify that he cannot help the strong need to look at Eurydice.
This is the very last page of the book. It is a full-color version of the cover, because I am a fan of covers spoiling the ending but not being aware that they are doing so until you get to that last page. This page is more symbolic; it signifies Orpheus being killed by Cerberus, which I modeled off of Borzois. In some versions of the story, Orpheus is torn apart by women/dryads, but I felt that this did not fit the tone of what I was illustrating.
